I just moved to Montana from Oregon and really want to know if there is anything i can do from here to help with getting a reform on the next ballot. I personally know 5 people that have gotten a M11 and i feel it is completely unfare!
I think your site is very helpful in keeping people up to date on what is going on with this. Thank you.
I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO GET THIS REFORM ON THE BALLOT. I HAVE A BROTHER THAT IS IN THERE ON THIS MEASURE. FOR SOMETHING SO STUPID I DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW THEY THINK THIS IS FARE. HE LOST HIS WIFE HIS TWO BABY BOYS OVER THIS. AND HE NEVER EVEN HAD A SPEEDING TICKET IN HIS LIFE. HE WAS 23 WHEN HE WENT IN AND THE CRIME WAS NON VIOLENT HE WAS JUST TELLING SOME DRUNK KIDS TO GET OUT OF MY COUSINS HOUSE LIKE SHE ASKED HIM TO. AND THEY SAID BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T WANT TO GO IT WAS KIDNAPPING.HOW MESSED UP IS THAT. HES BEEN IN FOR 3 YEARS. AND I WANT TO HELP HIM GET BACK TO HIS FAMILY..
my son was 19 yrs old when he went in and spending 5yrs 10mths.what a shock for all. my son was sentenced for assult 1.he gets out soon and the prison life has made my son angerier and i get to try to reform him.at 25 yrs old,it could be impossible.granted he needed to be punished but six yrs and no chance of early release?
Christian people would not wish this injustice on these young and often 1st time offenders! Jesus teaches us to forgive, help others!
Not cruelly punish! The Offenders were wrong but how can it be right to punish them for their wrong 10 or 20 times more severe that the crime they commited?
My son just convicted of a measure 11 crime in washington county, OR. I no longer believe in the american justice system. I have read and seen enough to know that he is just another dollar sign. I felt his defense attorney gave a lackluster closing argument. I also believe our prisons are for profit corporations. I do not even recognize my own state any more. When did Oregon start this for profit incarceration system? One need only look back at the passing of measure 11 in the 1990’s
my husband was 19 when he went in and under measure 11 he got 60 years which we appealed and got cut in half but still he has served over half his sentece and at least should havea chance at parole. he is not that kid anymore he is a grown man with a new set of thoughts and beleifs
